Violence Against Women Act Passes the Senate with Bipartisan Support: Take Action Today!Posted: February 12, 2013
Thanks to the outpouring of support from people across the nation including many dedicated RMC members, the Violence Against Women Act easily passed the Senate this afternoon by a vote of 78-22. Thank you for contacting your Senator and telling them how important VAWA is.
This would not have been possible without the support of Republicans speaking out. Take a minute this week to call and say thanks to our RMC friends who co-sponsored the act, Senators Susan Collins (ME), Mark Kirk (IL) and Lisa Murkowski (AK)!
Senator Collins (ME): (202) 224-2523
Senator Kirk (IL): 202-224-2854
Senator Murkowski (AK): 202-224-6665
Twenty-three Republican Senators voted in favor of this important legislation. To thank your Senator, call the Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121

This is a great step for women across the country—but our work is not over.
Last year, two different versions of this reauthorization passed through congress, but the House and Senate remained at odds over the details. We need your continued support to push this legislation through the U.S. House of Representatives.
Contact House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor today! Tell them to support VAWA in the House. Call today and keep the pressure on!
