The American Academy of Pediatrics is concerned with pending legislation that would exempt people from the individual mandate of the Federal health care law if they cite religious reasons — saying the language is too broad and could hurt children if their parents use the exemption to refuse to buy them coverage.

A last-minute change to a Mississippi anti-choice bill would ban abortion after 18 weeks of pregnancy, not 20, to calculate a pregnancy from when a woman’s last menstrual period ended. The bill includes no exceptions for cases of rape or incest.
