Sex education stumbles in Mississippi. Even a law requiring schools to teach sex ed is falling short in a state with one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the U.S.

A South Carolina house panel has passed a bill that updates the state’s 26-year-old sex education curriculum. Among other things it emphasizes abstinence and seeks to give kids more medically sound information.

New York Times (New York, NY)
Health clinics offering abortions in Texas filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday to block a new state rule that could shut down more than half of the state’s remaining providers this fall, forcing women seeking an abortion in southern and western Texas to drive several hundred miles each way or go out of state.
