A federal appeals court Thursday gave Texas permission to fully enforce a sweeping abortion law signed by Republican Gov. Rick Perry last year that would effectively close all but seven abortion facilities in America’s second-most populous state.

An Oklahoma physician filed a lawsuit Thursday to block an anti-choice law that would require clinics to have a physician with admitting privileges at a nearby hospital present when an abortion is performed. Such laws target physicians who provide abortion services.

A group of state senators in Washington state are working on legislation to help women have more access to birth control in response to the Hobby Lobby ruling.
