Republican lawmakers are raising concerns that the party will alienate young voters and women by voting for an anti-choice bill coming to the House floor next week, on the 42nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision.

A letter opposing an anti-choice abortion ban in Indiana: “Before Holdman and his colleagues attempt to legislate the deeply personal and personally devastating experiences of mothers like me, they should be honest about what they’re proposing: Not the saving of disabled lives, but the mandated torture of the mothers who wish, with all our hearts, that those lives could be saved, and of the babies themselves who will not survive, no matter how many lies Holdman spreads about us.”

The start of 2015 finds no letup in the attacks on a woman’s constitutionally protected right to make her own childbearing decisions.Already, six bills reviving old, bad ideas have been introduced in the new Congress, including the 20-week abortion ban and one bill that would deny federal funds for family planning to any organization that provides abortions.
