An anti-choice abortion ban in the West Virginia House of Delegates moved to third reading and final Tuesday despite several attempts by pro-choice lawmakers to modify the legislation to include exemptions for victims of rape and incest.

A spate of new anti-choice bills planned for Ohio’s upcoming legislative session would ban abortions in that state. Ohio Right to Life, the anti-abortion group backing these bills, has said openly that its ultimate goal is to challenge Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision affirming a woman’s right to have an abortion.
The State (Columbia, SC)
A dangerous ban on abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy passed the S.C. House Wednesday by a 80-27 vote. Before the vote, women called on lawmakers to reject the anti-choice bill because it leaves out exemptions for rape, incest and severe fetal abnormalities.
