During the last legislative session, the Republican-controlled Ohio House narrowly rejected an anti-choice abortion ban at about five weeks into pregnancy. This year, anti-choice activists are pushing lawmakers to unconstitutionally outlaw abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

An anti-choice Florida state Senator on Monday filed a proposal that would require doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals if they perform abortions in Florida.

Planned Parenthood began construction in New Orleans last year on a clinic that would provide family planning services for women and offer abortion services. Last month Governor Bobby Jindal’s administration denied their operating license, stating that the group failed to show the need for the clinic. Work has stopped for now, while Planned Parenthood vows to appeal.
