A mandate for a 48-hour waiting period before an abortion is one of two new anti-choice Tennessee laws taking effect Wednesday. Another law targets reproductive health facilities for closure by requiring them to meet the same standards as large outpatient surgical facilities like hospitals and surgical centers.

In 2014 Minnesota saw a 2.2 percent increase in abortions performed in the state a new Health Department report finds. This was the first increase in Minnesota’s abortions since 2006. Over two-thirds of the women who received abortions indicated they did not use contraception, signaling a need to increase access to family planning services in the state.
