California and Oregon will be the first states in the nation to allow women to get birth control pills and other hormonal contraceptives directly from their pharmacists – without a doctor’s prescription.

East Lansing schools will suspend the use of an outside contractor who helped teach the district’s sex education curriculum. The district came under fire earlier this year for its abstinence-only component taught by a group called Sexually Mature Aware Responsible Teens, or SMART, which is affiliated with a so-called crisis pregnancy center.
