#ThxBirthControlPosted: November 10, 2015
Today is the day to say “Thanks, Birth Control!” The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy is running its #ThxBirthControl campaign and its message revolves around REAL Republican ideals: take fiscal responsibility and allow individuals the freedom to make their own personal health care decisions. Access to affordable birth control reduces rates of unintended and teen pregnancy, which, in turn, drives down the rate of abortion. This is something all political parties can get behind! With fewer unintended pregnancies, billions of dollars are saved every year in Medicaid-covered birth costs. Think of the savings from providing one year of contraception for around $239 compared to a Medicaid-covered birth (including prenatal care, delivery, postpartum care, and infant care for one year) for around $12,770. Thanks, Birth Control, for helping millions of women (and families!) across the country and saving taxpayers billions!
