A state lawmaker in Missouri is attempting to put an end to a graduate student’s dissertation research on the impacts of 72-hour waiting periods on women considering abortions, stating that her study is a marketing aid for Planned Parenthood.

Anti-choice Michigan legislators have voted to prohibit abortions at 12 weeks gestation, an effort that has been contested in other states as a violation of the right to abortion up until viability as protected by the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.
