A Missouri lawmaker plans to introduce a bill that would subject gun buyers in the state to the same restrictions that women face if they choose to have an abortion. State Rep. Stacey Newman (D-St. Louis) has pre-filed a bill that would require buyers to wait 72 hours to make a gun purchase, which they would only be able to do at a store at least 120 miles from their homes. Women in Missouri must also wait 72 hours before getting an abortion, and the 120-mile restriction is intended to draw attention to the long distances that women must travel to have one.

Planned Parenthood opened a new facility last week in Los Angeles, only days after the shooting rampage at a Colorado clinic killed three people. “Our doors are open today, in Colorado and across the country, and nothing will deter us from providing high-quality health care to our patients,” Celinda Vazquez, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles vice president of public affairs, said in a statement.
