SCOTUS to hear important case tomorrow, March 2nd.Posted: March 1, 2016
Thank you RMC members for your support as we ready for tomorrows important hearing at the Supreme Court.
Our team will be on the ground as the Court hears final arguments in the Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt case. The law in question has already led to the closure of dozens of family planning clinics limiting access to low cost preventive care like contraception and cancer screenings for countless families.
RMC National Co-Chair Susan Bevan will be a headline speaker at a rally and press conference at 9AM tomorrow morning. You can watch a live stream by clicking this link.
A basic American axiom is that our citizens have the right to be free from unwarranted government interference. “TRUST the people. LIMIT government.” has long been the central philosophy of the Republican Party. These ideals cannot be applied in some instances and ignored in others. They must extend to all policy areas, including social issues.
There is no doubt – abortion is controversial and divisive – an issue where people of good conscience disagree. Nonetheless, Government cannot mandate a singular “moral” code or particular set of religious beliefs. No matter how deeply legislators hold their individual views, their position does not grant them license to impose their religious beliefs upon all American citizens.
